The National Cleaner Production Centre South Africa (NCPC-SA) is a national support programme that drives the transition of South African industry towards an inclusive, low carbon and climate-resilient green economy through appropriate resource efficient and cleaner production (RECP) interventions.
By embarking on a RECP journey, a company can achieve a more efficient and sustainable way of doing business. RECP contributes to significant resource savings with surprisingly little investment – and often quick wins can pave the way to even greater savings.
For instance, since its first implementation in 2011, through the Industrial Energy Efficiency Project, the NCPC-SA has assisted industrial companies to save 6.5 TWh of energy, translating to cumulative cost savings of R5.3 billion in these companies.
The Centre’s services support the NCPC-SA’s mission to drive RECP in industrial and selected commercial and public sectors by equipping them to operate in an efficient, sustainable, and competitive manner.
The services and focus areas include industry and sector knowledge-sharing, company technical support; green skills development; and advocacy and awareness-raising.

The NCPC-SA streamlines its services though the delivery of projects, many of which are delivered in partnership with local or international partners.
The NCPC-SA Projects are:
• Industrial Energy Efficiency Project
• Industrial Symbiosis Programme
• Industrial Water efficiency Project
• Eco-Industrial Parks Programme
• RECP Finance Project
The NCPC-SA aims to further support South African industry and businesses through the RECP journey by providing tools and technical advice. The NCPC-SA site houses several tutorial videos, and downloadable booklets and posters to assist companies of all sizes.

The NCPC-SA is a programme of the Department of Trade Industry and Competition and is hosted by the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research.
